the year in books: may & june

May has flown by in a flurry of family celebrations, leaving little time for curling up with a cup of tea and a good book.

Not a great excuse but the only one I have. But I do have good intentions. I will get back on track.  This month, I need to finish The Land of Decoration, my May read and I have a copy of Kate Atkinson's Life after Life waiting in the wings.

I am really enjoying this project and despite life getting in the way sometimes, I'm delighted with how being part of #theyearinbooks has revived my love of books and reading.

Joining in as always with Laura.

  1. Ah yes, Life after Life - added to my kindle around the end of the year, still not read. One day though...one day! x

  2. I've been wanting to read Life After Life too. I thought it sounded a little disturbing so I wasn't sure. But I've heard such great things about it. Looking forward to hearing what you think.

  5. i find reading difficult when the weather is nice and when i have sewing ideas and projects running around my head... although in London i always liked going to the sunny park with a sandwich and a blanket and a good book to read. hope you'll find some more time to spend reading this month! x

  6. Don't be hard on yourself, it isn't a race to get books read, better to take your time and enjoy them. I hope that you can get May's book finished though so that you can start June's, hope that you enjoy them both as well! xx

  7. I think that's why it's such a popular project. While I'm not joining in, I have enjoyed learning about what other people are choosing to read and why, and that in turn is influencing my book choices and purchases. I only read for about ten minutes in bed at night so it takes me ages to get through books lately! x
