Last month's read Perfect by Rachel Joyce was just that, perfect. I loved it. The writing is beautiful. Insightful and very descriptive. The story held me captivated all the way to the end. The characters were so well drawn they seemed real. Perfect definitely deserves a recommendation.
Rachel's first novel The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry has also been added to my reading pile.
I've just started reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.
Joining as always with Laura for the year in books.
Liked Gone Girl but thought ending was a bit pfff so interested to know what you think. I'm reading Harold Fry right now, it's lovely, I'm doing the new one as part of a blog tour. X
ReplyDeleteCoincidence (not really, it is a pretty popular book!) but I just came back from bookclub - this months book was Gone Girl. I'm not sure if I want to tell you what I thought until you've read it ... hmmm. Yes, like Ginny, I'd be interested to know what you think.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Gone Girl. It wasn't what I expected!
ReplyDeleteI thought Perfect was wonderful. The author writes with such humanity. Her understanding and empathy for those in difficulty is beautiful. My choice for October s Gone Girl too! I need to get a wiggle on, 'cause I'm out with book group to see the film next Friday.

I've unearthed Gone Girl from the shelf and am going to read it next. I'm enjoying hearing such intriguing reviews about it! x
ReplyDeleteI am a bit slow of the mark... popping over from Creative Academia. I am about a third through "Perfect" and so far, I like it. I never finished "Gone Girl", I found the narrators really annoying (I have the audiobook). I am going to see the film this Friday.
ReplyDeleteNot heard of any of these off to check them out now..............popping over from A Year in Books.
