Another month gone, half way through the year.
June was a good month. Mild, fairly dry weather with a little sunshine most days. Not to be sniffed at when remembering recent summers.
Our garden is thriving in the warm weather and when the rain comes the plants seem to appreciate the dampness, producing beautiful blooms and vibrant new growth.
Our lawn is lush, green and covered with red and white clover. The bees are having a ball, buzzing busily from the lavender plants, to the flowerpots and on to the clover.
Roses are in flower and the elderflower blooms are scenting the air. I love their scent. It transports me back in time, to chatting my grandfather for hours in summer sitting on a lime washed stone wall underneath an elder tree. Precious memories.

Thank you for the lovely words on my last nature in the home post. I am not ignoring those of you who would like to know what the climber is but I do need to come clean. I don't actually know but will endeavour to find out and let you know.
the elder tree is really having its moment right now. Will you make juice I wonder. I've never tried, but the flowers look so tempting! Heather x
ReplyDeleteNo I've never tried but would love to give it a go ... I have eaten them though on holiday in Austria ... cooked in a light batter, a bit like tempura and served with raspberry coulis for dessert ... they were lovely ... never came across it again though ... Bee xx
DeleteI really love these photos, do you take them inside? :) x
ReplyDeleteYes Ada ... they are taken inside in a really light room ... it is always fingers crossed for the right light ... but if it is very dark ... I tweak the exposure a little in Picmonkey ... Bee xx
DeleteEnjoy the holidays and look forward to lots of lovely photos. x
ReplyDeleteOh those colours are so delicate - the yarn side of me would love to knit them up into a blanket. Mum used to tell me that when she was evacuated in the war she used to eat clover and it tasted really sweet - sadly the one I tried was from a grass verge frequented by all the neighbourhood dogs - it was not quite the taste I had expected! I think I've found your climber using my good old RHS encyclopaedia - is it a Russian vine? Have a look at this page http://www.diplomlandespfleger.de/englisch/polygonumaubertii.html. Enjoy the flowers x Jane
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane ... that's it ... I just couldn't find it on the RHS website no matter how I described it ... thanks for letting me know ... you're a star ... Bee xx
DeleteAh, so pleased the mystery has been solved -- I was just coming to report back that I had been unsuccessful in my searches!
DeleteLovely flower mood board - hope you have a warm sunny July x
ReplyDeleteA beautiful moodboard with a mix of soft pastels and bright colours too. Your garden must be a picture. Let's hope July is as nice. It feels like we've had a lot of cloud here - I would be happy to see a few more clear blue skies. xx
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely summery mood board and I agree with Jane - as soon as I saw those lovely pastel colours together I thought they would be colour palette for a crochet project. Hope you get some sunny days for the holidays. Mel x

Such pretty colours, quite a contrast to mine, it's funny how as summer stretches out and there is more choice our moodboards are looking quite different. x
ReplyDeleteYour garden must be looking lovely
ReplyDeleteGorgeous soft colours in this mood board
I love the colours! x
ReplyDeleteJust lovely! Sophisticated and rich at the same time. Elderflower-juice is really nice, be sure too use newly springed flowers and wash away little bugs before. Happy July!
