simple pleasures

Some simple pleasures making me smile on these bitterly cold winter days.

: :      Freshly baked bread. So delicious.
: :      Winter blooms with perfect colours and papery petals.
: :      Tiny little hands in mine on a winter walk.

January has been and gone. For me, it is the calm after the storm. Quiet times to recharge and plan adventures for the year ahead. And now February is here, bringing some welcome sunshine. An icy wind blows everyday here and looks set to stay for a while. But winter will come to an end and spring is on its way. Little signs are everywhere. I love the promise of spring.

Are you looking forward to the end of winter?

  1. That bread looks wonderful. There's nothing like freshly baked bread slathered in butter and with some soup. I am really enjoying winter this year and am trying to go with it, rather than willing spring to come. But damn it's cold! I would like it to warm up just a tiny bit. xx

  5. I actually am enjoying winter right now. The longer I live here in the NW the more I enjoy the winter and it's beauty. Cold evenings sitting near the fire place, winter storms and lots of knitting and Crochetting. I hope you are enjoying your winter and I'm looking forward to spring. And although I'm learning to like winter I'm also like you looking forward to spring.

  8. I love the promise of spring too; it's a bit like a glimpse through a hole in the hedge to what's beyond. Happy to hang on to winter for a bit longer, just so long as spring pops up later.

  11. We're only half-way through winter here, so I don't think of spring until the end of March. Winter walks and flowers blooming just sounds off kilter to me ;)
