This weekend, we enjoyed the sunny weather and went for a walk at our local national trust property Florence Court House and Gardens.
It's one of our all time favourite places to go. The wee ones know every path, tree and stream in the grounds.
And they have an absolute ball running through the garden and forest walks.
We stopped off at a little stream to make a wish,
and said hello to the gargoyle.
After some time in the playground it was off home for tea, a bath and stories before bed.
Heaven, three little ones cuddled into bed. Relaxed and happy for the week to come.
I have been getting crafty over the weekend too, adding a few more rounds to my granny square blanket. Very slowly I must admit owing to a sore elbow which is limiting me to short bursts now and again. It's seriously messing up my hooking time.
Oh and on the subject of time, I can't quite believe how long it takes to complete a single round of my blanket at the minute. I am in awe of the giant crochet throws and blankets I have been drooling over in blogland.
I've also started on my Mollie Makes project for this month and will reveal all here soon.
And I have been reading The Simple Things magazine. It seems like my kind of magazine with some lovely crafts, food, homes and gardening articles. It also has the bonus that Mr F has been enjoying it as well. There seems to be enough content to satisfy both genders.
I'm off now to catch up on a mountain of housework. I never seem to get anything done at the weekend. Does anyone else have the same problem?
Lovely photos - Florence Court House looks amazing. I am also in awe of these crafters who bang out knitted and crocheted throws in no time - how do they do it? It took me three months to make a cushion!!
ReplyDeleteI never bother with chores over the weekend - it's impossible to get anything done with the kids around. I tend to have a blitz first thing monday morning when I get back from the school run. xx
Thank you ... we are really lucky with Florence Court so close ... in fact we are a bit spoilt ... we have three trust properties within ten miles of us ... but this is our favourite ... love your cushion ... I am always playing catch up with the housework ... it seems to never end :) ... xx
DeleteHello Bee, what a lovely walk, and lovely images too! Love your little girls jacket, looks very snuggly! Have got first issue of The Simple Things too, wasn't what I was expecting at all, I really like it!
ReplyDeleteLove your blanket, am full of admiration, my granny square Royal wedding/Jubilee/Olympic/Paralympic blanket still no where near done ... need another celebration with red, white and blue and maybe it'll be finished by then!
Enjoy your week, and I'll leave you a little quote 'cleaning the house when the children are growing, is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing'
xxx
Thanks so much for the quote, Claire ... it really made me laugh ... it is so true and one I will always remember ... love the Simple Things too, there are some yummy recipes in it ... I'm threatening to give the chicken pie a go ... Bee xx
DeleteReally like the look of that magazine, I'm going to get one!
ReplyDeleteI always seem to have a meltdown on Sunday evenings when I look around and everywhere is a tip! X
Hi Nick ... you should defintitely seek out the magazine ... I think you would really love it ... oh, you should read Claire's lovely quote above ... I think it sums up the futility of worrying about cleaning :) ... Bee xx

DeleteMy kids love NT places! I think it's great value for money but we tend to get the memberships very other year, then we get the discounts too! Looks like you had fun! Ada :)
ReplyDeleteHi Ada, the National Trust is wonderful ... we are members too ... it really is value for money when you go as often as we do ... I think they are fun places to visit and always have great family fun days on for special occasions ... Bee xx

DeleteI was quite prepared not to like Simple as (lowers voice to a whisper) I'm not too keen on Mollie Makes ... but I loved it!
ReplyDeleteSame problem here re. weekends, and Monday to Friday too!!
Hi Annie ... I was a little surprised by The Simple Things as well ... it has really lovely content ... something for everyone ... I subscribe to Mollie Makes and do really like it ... (whispering) although the projects are getting a little bit samey ... Bee x
DeleteThat looks like a perfect weekend, Bee. We love visiting all the NT places too (there are ALWAYS yummy scones too!). Simple Life Chicken Pot Pie has been added to my "recipes-to-try" list too. Looking forward to seeing what your MM project of the month will be :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday
xx
Love the National Trust tearooms ... yummy baking to indulge in after a long walk ... what could be better :) ... have a lovely week ... Bee xx
DeleteLooks like a lovely place to explore. Your blanket is coming along nicely. I know what you mean about the work that goes into it..never realized till I started to try out crochet myself. I look at the blankets I bought and think such work and to think I bought some for just £10 or so..madness!
ReplyDeleteI really like the look of the magazine, thanks for letting us know about it :)
I am the same on the weekends, I always have a list of things I want to tackle..but somehow I never seem to get the chance to do most of them (they really do need to add a few extra hours each day onto the weekend :P).
I hope you are having some Autumn sunshine today where you are..if so enjoy :)
Magie x
Hi Magie ... I do love crocheting but I think I might use smaller granny squares in my next project ... it is time consuming ... the magazine is really good ... I think you would like it alot ... I think all us mummies should take Claire's quote above to our hearts and worry less about cleaning all the time ... hope you have a lovely day too ... Bee xx
DeleteI always try to get all my horrid jobs done by Friday night. The weekend is for playing in our house!!!!! Love your blanket am making one at the moment don't think I'll be able to make it giant, although i drool over the ones on the internet!
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely. I miss wandering around national trust gardens. I bet the kids love it. Love your blanket too. They are my favourite to crochet x
