felt street

Oh the bitter, bitter cold.  I spent an hour online yesterday desperately seeking out some thermal layers for the first time ever and I have a sneaky suspicion it is just going to get colder.

Anyway, cold, dreary weather equals more crafty time.  So I thought I would show you a recent make.  A felt street picture for our little fairy's bedroom.

The picture was quick and easy to put together.  I cut basic shapes from felt to make the houses and trees and then added the little details.  Stitching on the windows and doors and adding button and seed bead embellishments.  The felt pieces were stuck to white card with fabric glue.

You could add more background but I liked how the bright colours of the felt looked against the plain background.  I think it gives it a cartoon like quality.

I have been planning the little fairy's room for ages, pinning lots of lovely images for inspiration.

Now the weather has turned colder and we will be home more at the weekends I have high hopes we might get the room completed.

In all honesty, we haven't been in any real rush as she is still in her cot and as she is very happy there we haven't bothered to move her yet.

All in good time, all in good time.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.  Hopefully it isn't too dreary were you are.

  11. I love it! I would have adored having that in my room when I was little. She can make up little stories about who lives in the houses! Ooh and she can name the birds! (think I am getting a bit carried away) xx

  14. Beautiful art. I have to say that I have actually been wanting to take many scraps of fabric and put them together to make art, I want to do a little girl and use some of my daughters clothes when she was younger, I have the things but it's just one of those things that I haven't done yet, you know? This really is nice, I'm glad I stopped by. Have a great weekend. Tammy xx

Yes, hasn't it turned chillier now..I also have been looking for some thermals, mainly a top to wear under my dresses/jumpers. First time I have ever invested in a pair as well.

I hope you are having a great weekend.
