I have been a lazy blogger of late. Finding the lure of the sun hard to resist and so spending less time with technology. I expect a few of you are in the same boat. Gently enjoying summer days.
The last proper summer we had was in 2006. The year our eldest was born. I can remember him sleeping peacefully in his pram by the open french doors.
Seven years on, I think we deserve this perfect summer. My sleeping baby has grown into a little boy who loves being outside enjoying the sun with his younger brother and sister.
After playing in the garden on Saturday with a makeshift sprinkler, the garden hose tied to a tree, the little ones wished for a visit to the seaside.
So on Sunday, we packed a picnic and set off for a day at the beach. We visited Murvagh Blue Flag Beach in Donegal.
The weather was lovely. Not too hot with a welcome breeze. We paddled in the water, built sandcastles, collected shells and watched kites swirling through the sky.
All in all, we had a fun, easy going day. The kind of day we hope to enjoy many more of before summers end.
What a lovely day at the beach. I'm so glad you're having the kind of weather for it now.
ReplyDeleteThis is how childhood summers should be, don't you think? Forget being indoors with technology, just enjoy every moment of the sunshine as these are the memories you will treasure.
ReplyDeleteHave fun in the sun, lovely Bee :-)

Hope you continue to enjoy this gorgeous weather! I agree with Gilly above, this is what childhood summers should be all about...

ReplyDeleteWe are loving our hot days despite still working and being in school. We have been going for dips in the sea at the end of the day and chilling on the beach on the warm evenings x your seaside day out looks like it ticked all the happy hazy summer days boxes, long may it last xxx Penny
ReplyDeleteI love your makeshift sprinkler idea. Not so hot here, but still enjoying the Summer - roll on the holidays.

That beach looks wonderful! It was too hot here on Sunday, a sea breeze would have made it much more bearable, in fact I'd have resorted to a sprinkler if I'd had one!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a lovely time!
ReplyDeleteYou do deserve a great summer & being out in the nice weather with family beats technology any day!

The best way to spend summer days. Lucky you having a sandy beach xx
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are really make the very most of this glorious weather. Lovely looking beach and great photo's! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to just up and head over to the seaside! We can go to lakes here, but the sea sounds more adventurous ;) I also have been hanging our "soaker hose" from our pine tree for years ... it's a perfect way for the kids to get some fun cooling off. I also used large shallow totes filled with water and lots of buckets and little boats etc. and just splashing around in those kept kids cool too. Enjoy the lazy days of summer while they last ... you're not the only one drawn away from technology this summer ;) Wendy x
ReplyDeleteI love that you just listened to the siren call of the sea and went! It's the only place to be when it's this hot.
ReplyDeleteI remember the summer of '06 - I was pregnant with Bella and it was HOT. This is definitely the best summer we've had since then. So glad the warm weather is reaching you too. xx
Oh Bee, what wonderful photos! So great that you are having such a lovely Summer over there this year and looks like you are well and truly making the most of it. Enjoy x
