A wildflower posy gathered from the hedgerows along our road. A little posy for our eldest to bring to church to celebrate his First Holy Communion last Sunday. Despite not being especially religious, we had a lovely family gathering to celebrate another milestone in our little man's life.
Gathering these flowers will be ingrained forever in my memory. Eight o'clock in the morning, dressed in pyjamas, raincoat and wellies, as the rain poured down. I must have looked like I had lost the plot. But I loved picking each pretty bloom. I really hope the neighbours were having a lie in.

Oh Bee, what a fun and wonderful memory to accompany your little man's special milestone! It is the sweetest posy, hope you're able to pick more 'pyjama posies' as summer continues! ;-) Chrissie x

ReplyDeleteThe loveliest sort of posy. I'm trying to encourage wildflowers to grow in my garden. I'm so thrilled that I have cow parsley this year. I scattered the seed back in September

Posies like this are so lovely - loose and informal. As for nightwear in the garden, I'm a regular offender! The best (and most interesting) people are generally a little bit ditzy anyway so hopefully your neighbours, if they did see you, started their day with a smile :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.

ah, such a beautiful wild bouquet. i always loved the scraggly airy beauty of wildflower posies - our mum used to send us out into the nearby meadow in summer holidays to pick a nice bouquet for the living room. seeing your picture brought back those memories!
ReplyDeleteWild flowers in the hedge rows are just the best thing in the world. Also lovely to have a posy in the house too. These are beautiful. - Annie
