Linking up with Lou's nature in the home series this week, some pictures taken at the Ulster American Folk Park.
I love the fact that having nature and plants in our homes is something which has spanned hundreds of years.
This is the main living room of a thatched cottage in Ulster. On the table is a fern in a glazed terracotta pot. The style and furniture is quite en vogue now, don't you think?
I could quite happily while away some hours at that table - it certainly would look quite at home in a current interiors magazine. I suppose a difference is that they would have been hanging the herbs to use them whereas so often now this would just be for decoration. Lovely pictures x Jane
ReplyDeleteHaven't been there since I went with the guides many moons ago. It looks wonderful Must make an effort next time I'm in N.I in the summer.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing such lovely pictures x
ReplyDeleteLove the "herb bunting" ;-) and that kitchen table. Nature in the home always just seems to add that final touch, like how a pretty posy of flowers can just brighten up a room.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend,
Xx

Those are really lovely, great idea to include them. x
ReplyDeleteI love the way you've included these in Lou's series! What an original idea. And yes, that battered table and chair in the the first photo would not look that out of place in a trendy, all-white space. x
ReplyDeleteThe museum looks a wonderful place to visit, really peacefull. Flissx
ReplyDeleteI love these photos and would love to stay a while in a log cabin :)
ReplyDeleteGosh that spot in the top photograph looks idyllic, so calming. I am a real fan of ferns, they went a bit out of vogue as an indoor plant I think after the orange pine cladding fest pairing of the 70s I think but they're such quiet, understated plants, I think I might seek one out. Thanks for the inspiration x
ReplyDeletea lovely idea to hang herbs above the fireplace, must smell lovely! Heather x

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your sweet words on my last post, very kind of you!
Love from Mirjam.
My mom always had herbs drying in the kitchen in the summer ... the smell of basil and sage take me right back to that kitchen on a hot summer day!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous.. yes, plant life spans the centuries. x
