And so year end. Twelve garden moodboards. Our garden has taken a battering from the almost relentless wind and rain. The playhouse took flight in spectacular fashion on one particularly gusty morning, but has been rescued.
The trees are skeletal, bare branches stripped of their leaves and bending obediently to the winds strength. The evergreen holly and ivy are virtually the only greenery in the garden. Some of the bare tree branches are covered in beautiful mint and mustard coloured lichen. Like little jackets providing warmth against the bitter cold.
December has been a month of two halves for me. So busy in the run up to Christmas with fun filled festive activities, nativity plays, visiting Father Christmas, Christmas markets and visiting family and friends. And now a time for rest. I got a special festive treat this year. Shingles. Not exactly what I wanted, as you might imagine. But we had a great Christmas despite it.
We spent Christmas Day at home, the five of us, taking things at our own pace, our own rhythm. It was lovely. My in laws spent Boxing Day with us and tomorrow we are going to my parents for dinner.
I am feeling a lot better and hope to be well mended very soon.
Oh poor you Bee with shingles, I am really pleased to hear that you are on the mend and managed to have a festive time despite this. I hope you have a wonderful New Year's Day with your family and here's to a very happy and healthy new year xox Penny

Gosh, I wish you full health and all the very best for the new year! What an illness to spend the festivities with - I do hope it wasn't very serious, and that you can put it all behind you entirely very soon! (One of my art teachers had shingles once, he was off school for so long, when he came back I joked that I didn't believe his being off sick he must have been just on a long tropical holiday or something... Then he showed me his big deep scars around his waist...I still feel bad about joking like that, I didn't realize shingles can be quite serious...I hope yours was nothing like that.) Sending lots of hugs! xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous mood board as always. Sorry to hear you have been unwell, hope you are back to full health very soon. Wishing you a very happy 2014.

I'm impressed with the colour you did find, well done! It's been lovely following the seasons through your moodboards this year, Bee. You seem to always have an abundance of colour in your garden. I'm glad to hear you are getting over shingles. Oh, and happy new year to you! xx
